"Project 30+30" seeks to empower 30 widows for the rest of their lives and provide support to 30 vulnerable children, focusing on education and health-related needs. The Kushcare Foundation, founded on February 14, 2023, was created to cater to the less privileged, particularly widows and children. All registered beneficiaries, totaling 60 individuals, will receive lifelong care from the foundation, subject to the availability of resources.
In a groundbreaking move, Amb. Dr. Olumuyiwa Vic. Kushimo expressed his intention to be the first foundation to celebrate widowers, as society tends to focus solely on widows. Recognizing the challenges faced by men who have lost their spouses, Kushimo aims to collaborate with Governor Seyi Makinde's Omi-Titun 2.0 agenda to address this issue.
Kushimo revealed ongoing discussions with the government and pledged to submit the names of beneficiaries from his foundation and other women for further empowerment opportunities. The foundation has also visited schools and provided essential items such as uniforms, school sandals, writing materials, and other educational relief packages for underprivileged students.
Commending Governor Seyi Makinde for his support, Amb. Dr. Olumuyiwa Vic. Kushimo expressed his commitment to utilizing his influence to bring positive change to the lives of the people. He praised the government's willingness to join hands with Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in addressing the challenges faced by women, especially widows, in overcoming poverty.
Appreciating the role of NGOs as grassroots entities in tackling economic hardship, the Oyo State government called for increased collaboration between registered NGOs and the government. This partnership aims to leverage the NGOs' proximity to the community to uplift women and alleviate their economic burdens.
The launch of "Project 30+30" by the Kushcare Foundation marks a significant milestone in the organization's mission to empower widows and vulnerable children. With a focus on education and health, this initiative aims to provide lifelong support and make a positive impact on the lives of these individuals.
