Abia State Governor Receives Full Backing of Nigeria Navy for "Operation Crush"
Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex, has received the full backing of the Nigeria Navy for the launching of the Abia security watch code named "Operation Crush" aimed at improving the security situation in the state. The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, expressed his support for the security watch when he paid a working visit to the Governor on Wednesday in Isialangwa.

The security situation in Abia State has received a major boost as the Governor, Dr. Alex, secured the full backing of the Nigeria Navy for the launching of "Operation Crush". The initiative aims to improve the security situation in the state, particularly in the face of rising incidents of kidnapping and armed banditry that have plagued the border areas of Umunneochi and Isuikwuato.

Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, the Chief of Naval Staff, expressed his support for the security watch during a working visit to the Governor. He commended Governor Alex for his efforts in supporting the security agencies, particularly the Nigerian Navy, to tackle the challenging issue of insecurity not only in Abia State but across the nation.

The Naval Chief highlighted the importance of security in achieving development, and he recognized Governor Alex's agenda of improving security as a crucial step towards progress. He applauded the launch of "Operation Crush" and emphasized the need to eliminate the elements that hinder government efforts in the state.

Operation Crush is a multi-agency task force consisting of the Nigerian Army, Navy, Police, DSS, Civil Defence, and other security agencies. By combining the strength and expertise of these agencies, the initiative aims to crush the activities of criminal elements in Abia State and restore peace and stability to the region.

The Governor, expressing his pleasure and congratulating Vice Admiral Ogalla on his appointment as Chief of Naval Staff, thanked President Bola Tinubu for the appointment. He acknowledged that the South East had not had a Naval Chief in over 30 years, making this appointment a significant milestone for the region.

Emphasizing that security is a crucial pillar of his administration's development agenda, Governor Alex reiterated that without security, there can be no meaningful progress. He highlighted the relationship between security and development, stating that while security can exist without development, the reverse is not possible.

Operation Crush, in alignment with the development agenda of Governor Alex, aims to ensure that security is upheld in Abia State, thereby facilitating progress, growth, and improved living conditions for the people. By fully supporting this initiative, the Nigeria Navy is playing a pivotal role in achieving these objectives.

The visit of Vice Admiral Ogalla to the Governor came just a day after the launch of Operation Crush. This rapid response from the Chief of Naval Staff signifies the importance attached to tackling the security challenges in Abia State and reflects the commitment of the Nigerian Navy in partnering with the state and other security agencies to restore peace and security in the region.
