His retirement marks the end of an era for a consummate public relations practitioner and seasoned journalist.

Lagos - Dr. Abubakar Jimoh, the Director of Public Affairs at the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), has retired after 30 years of meritorious service. His retirement leaves a void in the agency's top management, as Dr. Jimoh had proven himself as a consummate public relations practitioner and dedicated journalist.

His tenure at NAFDAC was marked by numerous accomplishments. In 1995, Dr. Jimoh's investigative journalism skills led to the arrest of two Chinese nationals involved in counterfeit medicines trading. Through his efforts, 28 lorry loads of counterfeit medicines worth millions of Naira were seized.

For his hard work, diligence, and dedication, Dr. Jimoh received double promotion in 1999 from the then Director-General, Professor Gabriel Osuide. His confrontations with drug counterfeiters earned him accolades from successive Directors-General, Late Prof. Dora Akunyili and Dr. Paul Orhii.

Outside of NAFDAC, Dr. Jimoh's expertise was recognized at a national level.
