Atiku Abubakar Rejects Verdict, Vows to Pursue Justice at Supreme Court
Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the PDP, has rejected the verdict of the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT) which affirmed President Bola Tinubu's victory. Atiku vows to pursue justice at the Supreme Court and alleges that INEC compromised the last presidential election.

FCT, Abuja - Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Thursday, September 7, rejected the verdict by the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT) which affirmed President Bola Tinubu's victory at the February 2023 poll.

The court on Wednesday, September 6, threw out Atiku's petitions. But Atiku is undeterred and has vowed to 'pursue justice' at the Supreme Court.

In a world press conference held by the PDP, Atiku alleged that the party's "gains" in ensuring transparent elections through the deployment of technology were heavily compromised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the way it managed the last presidential election.

He expressed deep concern over the judgement of the court, stating that it "failed to restore confidence in our dreams of free and fair elections devoid of human manipulations". Atiku remained steadfast in his pursuit of justice, aiming to strengthen democracy through principles of fair hearing.

Atiku emphasized that he had instructed his lawyers to file a petition challenging the outcome of the presidential election because he strongly believes in the need for a more transparent electoral process in Nigeria.

"I refuse to accept the judgment because I believe that it is bereft of substantial justice," said Atiku, echoing his disappointment in the PEPT's verdict.

The former Vice President of Nigeria vowed to restore confidence in the country's electoral system, stating that the ultimate goal is to ensure that the outcome of every election is a true reflection of the people's wishes.

Atiku has instructed his legal team to activate his rights of appeal to the Supreme Court, the highest court in Nigeria. He remains determined to fight for justice and fairness.

Atiku Abubakar, a seasoned politician, has contested for the Nigerian presidency on multiple occasions in the past. However, his quest for the highest office in the country remains unfulfilled.

As the battle for justice continues, Nigerians eagerly await the next steps in Atiku's pursuit of justice at the Supreme Court.
