Lagos - In a welcome development, the Ukomu Igala Organisation (UIO) has expressed its utmost appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for nominating Alhaji Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, a son of the late renowned Prince Abubakar Audu, as a Minister. This thoughtful gesture is seen as a commendable act by the Igala ethnic nationalities and the people of Kogi State.
In a joint statement released by Sir James Opaluwa and Chief Abubakar Agene, the Chairman and Secretary of the Lagos branch of UIO, the organisation conveyed their gratitude to President Tinubu for remembering the legacy of Prince Abubakar Audu, who had a promising electoral victory cut short in 2015. The untimely demise of Prince Audu thrust Yahaya Bello into the position of State Chief Executive.
The UIO highlighted the significant role played by Governor Yahaya Bello in the nomination of Alhaji Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, emphasizing that without Bello's recommendation, the Ministerial nomination would not have been possible. UIO also commended Governor Bello for continuing the legacy of the late Abubakar Audu political Dynasty and honouring the Igala people.
"The Ukomu Igala Organisation sees this appointment as well deserved, considering the achievements of the late Prince Audu and the rich resume of his son, Alhaji Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, the Ministerial nominee. With this appointment, the political dynasty has come back to life. The loss suffered by the Igala people upon the demise of Prince Audu will finally be blotted out," stated the UIO.
The Ukomu Igala Organisation, being the apex socio-cultural group for the Igala ethnic nationalities, called upon all Igala and Kogi State indigenes to rally around Alhaji Abubakar Audu and provide unwavering support throughout his tenure as a Minister. The nomination of Alhaji Shuaibu Abubakar Audu is seen as a step towards elevating the Igala ethnic nationalities and their contributions to the nation's development.
Alhaji Shuaibu Audu's vast experience and illustrious background make him a worthy candidate for the Ministerial role. The UIO hopes that with his appointment, the late Prince Abubakar Audu's political dynasty will find renewed vigour and continue its positive impact on the Igala community and Kogi State as a whole.
The Ukomu Igala Organisation wishes Alhaji Shuaibu Abubakar Audu a successful tenure as a Minister and encourages all stakeholders to lend their support towards the development and progress of the Igala ethnic nationalities in Nigeria.
