CSOs debunk allegations against NIMASA Director-General
The Coalition of Civil Society Organizations in Nigeria (CCSON) has dismissed the allegations leveled against Dr. Bashir Jamoh, the Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA). The CCSON, during a press conference in Abuja, stated that the allegations were baseless and fueled by mischievous elements. They highlighted the lack of thorough investigations conducted by the media before publishing the allegations. The CCSON revealed that these claims were intended to tarnish the reputation of Dr. Bashir Jamoh and the agency.

ABUJA - The Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), under the auspices of Coalition of Civil Society Organizations in Nigeria (CCSON), have come forward to debunk the allegations leveled against Dr. Bashir Jamoh, the Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA). The coalition, during a press conference in Abuja, expressed their concerns regarding the baseless nature of the allegations and the lack of in-depth investigations conducted beforehand.

Comrade Dele Anifowoshe, the National Secretary of CCSON, conveyed the coalition's findings and discredited the allegations as the handiwork of detractors with vested interests. These elements, facing the loss of their dirty businesses, resorted to utilizing sections of the media to propagate unverified facts in an attempt to undermine the credibility of Dr. Bashir Jamoh and NIMASA.

According to Anifowoshe, the coalition's investigations revealed that the allegations were fabricated and lacked any factual basis. He lamented the hasty manner in which some media outlets published the allegations without conducting proper due diligence and fact-checking.

"As the Coalition of Civil Society Organizations in Nigeria, we consider it necessary to debunk these claims against Dr. Bashir Jamoh, the Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), as they are false and misleading. Our thorough investigations have revealed that the stories and reports circulated are nothing but a collection of lies and baseless accusations," said Anifowoshe.

It is disheartening to witness the circulation of such publications that are devoid of factual accuracy. The CCSON calls upon media organizations to exercise responsibility by verifying and balancing their reportage through rigorous investigation. The dissemination of unverified allegations not only damages the reputation of individuals and organizations but also misleads the public.

Dr. Bashir Jamoh has been instrumental in leading NIMASA towards enhanced maritime safety and security. Under his stewardship, the agency has implemented various measures to combat piracy and advance the nation's maritime interests. The unwarranted allegations not only impede the progress of NIMASA but also undermine the collective efforts to maintain a safe and secure maritime environment.

The CCSON urges the public to disregard the false allegations and to recognize the significant contributions made by Dr. Bashir Jamoh and NIMASA in promoting the maritime sector's growth and development in Nigeria.
