PDP Governors Nominate Candidates for Appointments in Tinubu's Government, Says FCT Minister
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has revealed that governors from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nominated individuals to be appointed in the administration of President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Wike clarified that the APC government had requested nominations from both their party and the PDP. He emphasized his commitment to the success of the Tinubu government, while maintaining his allegiance to the PDP.

In a surprising revelation, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, disclosed that governors from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nominated individuals for appointments in President Bola Tinubu's administration. Speaking exclusively on Channels Television's Politics Today programme, Wike clarified that the APC government had written to governors from both the ruling party and the main opposition party seeking nominations for political positions.

Additionally, Wike stated, "I never said PDP governors nominated ministers; I never said so. I said this (Tinubu) government wrote to all the government of PDP and APC to nominate people for appointment." Governor Wike wants to ensure that there is no misconstruing his statement.

Wike, who previously served as the governor of Rivers State, further explained, "PDP governors nominated people for appointments. Appointment is appointment both as Boards and Commissions." His statement implies that appointments were not limited to ministerial posts, but also included other political positions.

While reaffirming his loyalty to the PDP, Wike made it clear that he has no intention of joining the APC. As the FCT minister, he expressed his commitment to ensuring the success of the Tinubu administration. "I am only working for the success of the Tinubu government," he declared.

This disclosure by Wike sheds light on the behind-the-scenes political processes, demonstrating that cross-party collaborations can occur in the interest of governance. It challenges the notion of strict party affiliations and exposes the complexities of Nigerian politics.

Meanwhile, the statement made by Wike on the programme also issued a challenge to the PDP's leadership. He dared the party chieftains to suspend or discipline him, highlighting his skepticism about encountering any high-ranking party member who would have the audacity to take such action against him.

Amidst these political developments, Wike's administration in the FCTA carried out the demolition of Kasuwan Dare, a market located at Hassan Musa Katsina Street, near Kpaduma II, in Asokoro Extension, Abuja. The FCTA officials who carried out the demolition justified their actions by stating that the market was housing suspected hoodlums and drug dealers.

The recent revelations by Wike highlight the complex dynamics present within the Nigerian political landscape. While party affiliations often dictate political alliances, it becomes evident that exchange and collaboration can transcend the boundaries of party lines. As the Nigerian political landscape continues to evolve, it is crucial to critically assess and scrutinize the actions and motivations of political actors.
