Police Arrest Gang of Kidnappers, Including Female Pastor, in Delta State
The Delta State Police Command has announced the arrest of a gang of kidnappers in Obiaruku, including a female pastor. The gang had kidnapped a woman and held her captive for six days, before releasing her after collecting a ransom of two million Naira and valuable jewelry. The police also arrested individuals involved in armed robbery and the possession of illegal firearms. The Commissioner of Police has urged the public to report any security challenges and assured them of the command's dedication to arresting and prosecuting culprits.

In a recent breakthrough, the Delta State Police Command has successfully busted a notorious gang of kidnappers operating in Obiaruku. Led by a self-acclaimed pastor, the gang had managed to evade capture for a significant period of time.

The incident leading to their arrest began on the evening of July 19, 2023, when a family returning home from their shop was accosted by three armed, masked men. The men kidnapped the mother of the family at gunpoint, sparking an immediate investigation by the police.

Six days later, the kidnappers released the victim after obtaining a ransom of two million Naira and jewelry worth approximately three million five hundred thousand Naira. However, the intelligence-led operation by the Delta State Police Command had already swung into full force, resulting in the arrest of several key members of the gang.

One of the suspects taken into custody is a female pastor, Franca Okuzor, who is the wife of the gang's leader, Celestine Okuzor Nova. The victim had been held captive at their residence during the ordeal.

The arrested suspects, including Kabi Kester and Henry Owojero, have all confessed to their involvement in the kidnapping. They have also provided crucial information that has led to the identification of four other gang members. The police are currently conducting an intensive manhunt to apprehend these individuals.

In addition to the kidnapping case, the Delta State Police Command has also made significant strides in combating armed robbery and illegal firearm possession. During a routine search on August 3, 2023, police operatives discovered 250 rounds of live cartridges hidden in a bag belonging to an individual named Omoruyi Osemudiamen.

Furthermore, a suspect named James Moro was apprehended on August 3, 2023, with a locally fabricated pump action gun. Investigations have revealed that Moro had been using the weapon to commit robberies in the area.

These recent arrests highlight the unwavering commitment of the Delta State Police Command to ensuring the safety and security of the public. CP Wale Abbas, the Commissioner of Police, has called upon members of the public to trust and report any cases of kidnapping or related criminal activities to the command.

CP Abbas emphasized that no effort would be spared in tracking down and prosecuting criminals. The Delta State Police Command remains dedicated to maintaining law and order, protecting the lives and property of citizens, and restoring peace to the state.
