DAMATURU - The parade ground of the Dazigau orientation camp in Yobe State reverberated with enthusiasm and unity as Corps members from the 2023 Batch 'B' Stream II orientation course participated in the inter-platoon drill competition.
Each of the 10 platoons exhibited their precision and discipline in military drills, showcasing the training they received during the orientation course. The competition aimed to foster a deep connection among individuals from diverse backgrounds and celebrate the spirit of unity and discipline.
The event was inaugurated by the Camp commandant, Capt. Ambrose Okhihie, who highlighted the importance of drills and parades in cultivating a sense of togetherness and teamwork among participants. Capt. Okhihie emphasized that beyond the competition, these activities foster a deep connection among individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Speaking at the event, Capt. Okhihie said, "This competition encompasses unity, discipline, patriotism, and respect. It will create a memorable experience that brings people together, fostering pride and belonging, while celebrating community development and heritage." He wished the participants success and encouraged them to give their best.
The inter-platoon drill competition saw distinguished guests in attendance, including the representation of the 27 Task Force Commander by Major SK Alkali, the Forward Operating Base Commander in Potiskum. Mrs. Hafsat Yerima, the State Coordinator NYSC Yobe, and Mr. Itodo Michael, the Camp Director, were also present, along with other senior course officials.
As a gesture of recognition, Mrs. Hafsat Yerima awarded cash prizes to the top winners of the competition. The results of the competition were as follows: 6 platoon emerged in the first place, 10 platoon secured the second place, and 9 platoon earned the third place.
Furthermore, the accolade for Best Parade Commander was awarded to the parade commander of 6 platoon, acknowledging exceptional leadership and execution of the drills.
The inter-platoon drill competition not only provided an opportunity for Corps members to showcase their skills but also served as a testament to their unity, discipline, and dedication towards their roles as future leaders and change-makers.
