Lagos September 13th - The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Wale Abass, has addressed the viral audio clip circulating on Whatsapp and other social media platforms. The clip alleges the kidnapping of twenty people and the killing of ten individuals in Delta State, particularly in the Ugbehwore town of Jesse Ethiope West LGA.
Considering the seriousness of these claims, the Commissioner of Police took immediate action. He directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police Operations, DCP Johnson Adenola, and the Area Commanders of Agbor and Sapele Area Commands to conduct an on-the-spot assessment of Ugbehwore town. Their objective is to evaluate the prevailing security measures and identify any areas that require reinforcement.
Furthermore, the Commissioner instructed the deployment of tactical teams to support the efforts of the DPO in the area. The goal is to eradicate this disturbing trend and ensure the safety of road users.
While acknowledging the public's role in sharing the information with the police, the Delta State Police Command clarifies that certain aspects of the audio clip are false and exaggerated. The claim of twenty individuals being kidnapped, and the killing of ten people, is not supported by the facts on the ground.
In light of the location's proximity to Edo State, the Delta State Police Command is collaborating closely with the Edo State Police Command. The public is assured of the command's dedication to providing security for all residents and ensuring the complete safety of roads.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Wale Abass, urges members of the public to continue sharing useful, credible, and timely information.
