Akure - Christopher Olusa, a 24-year-old man from Nigeria, is setting his sights on breaking the current World Record for the longest speech marathon held by Ananta Ram KC from Nepal. With the approval of the Guinness Book of World Records, Olusa plans to exceed the current record of 90 hours and two minutes by delivering a speech marathon lasting 120 hours.
The event will take place in a luxurious 5-Star Hotel in Akure, Nigeria, from Monday, September 11, 2023. Olusa is determined to inspire positive change with his marathon and has chosen the theme "Voices of Change: Inspiring Solutions for a Better World."
Olusa, a post-graduate student at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), has put together a 40-man team, including medical professionals, to ensure the success and well-being of the participants during the grueling marathon. His aim is not only to break the world record but also to raise funds to support children with aphasia.
In a press conference held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre in Alagbaka, Akure, Olusa spoke passionately about his mission. He said, "The genesis of this remarkable endeavor was born from an unwavering commitment to inspire positive change in our society. It is about transcending boundaries, shattering limits, and aspiring towards something extraordinary."
During the marathon, Olusa plans to read speeches from inspirational figures throughout history. He believes that words have the power to make a difference and hopes to encourage others to join him on this transformative journey.
All funds raised through the marathon will be dedicated to the TalkWithTheDuke Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by Olusa. The foundation aims to provide training and assistance to children with aphasia, a language disorder that affects speech and comprehension.
Christopher Olusa extends an open invitation to all, near and far, to join him in this extraordinary endeavor. He hopes to make history and inspire change through the power of words. With his determination and the support of the community, Olusa aims to break the world record and make a meaningful impact on the lives of children with aphasia.
