Kano state government has appointed 44 social media activists as Special Reporters to various Ministries, Department and Agencies (MD) in a bid to provide access to information on government policies, programs, and activities. Instead, they will serve as social media influencers, providing an extended reach and online presence for government information.
It is important to note that these newly appointed Special Reporters are not expected to generate original content but will be responsible for amplifying the existing content produced by professional journalists and media officers. The list of appointees covers a wide range of government sectors, including Agriculture, Budget and Planning, Commerce and Industry, Culture and Tourism, Education, Environment, Finance, Health, Higher Education, Information, Justice, Land and Physical Planning, Local Government, Project Monitoring, Religious Affairs, Rural Development, Special Duties, Science and Technology, Transportation, Water Resources, Women Affairs, and Works and Housing.
The 44 social media activists are expected to collect their letters of appointment and report to their respective agencies of assignment immediately.
