The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has expressed his delight and appreciation towards the Presidential Election Petitions Court (PEPC) for upholding the victory of President Bola Tinubu in the February 25 presidential election. Speaking on Channels Television's Politics Today programme, Wike commended the justices of the court, led by Justice Haruna Tsammani, for diligently delivering their judgment.

Wike, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stated that he was not surprised by the affirmation of President Tinubu's victory, as he firmly believed that the President had won the election in a free and fair manner. He congratulated President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima on their success and called on Nigerians to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) government.

"Nigerians have spoken, and the court has affirmed it. I didn't expect that the election would be overturned because the President won squarely," Wike stated. "I am happy; it's a moment of joy. I celebrate Mr. President, and I congratulate him and his Vice, Shettima, for the victory. I also commend the judiciary. For the first time, as far as I am concerned, I have never seen what I saw yesterday (Wednesday)."

Furthermore, Wike urged the PDP's flag bearer, Atiku Abubakar, and his Labour Party (LP) counterpart, Peter Obi, to join forces with the Tinubu administration in their quest for national development. He emphasized the significance of unity and working together for the betterment of Nigeria.

"I call on Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi to set aside political differences and collaborate with the Tinubu administration," Wike asserted. "We need cohesion and collective efforts to move our country forward. Let us put Nigeria's interest above party affiliations and work towards the progress and prosperity of our nation."

The affirmation of President Tinubu's victory by the Presidential Election Petitions Court (PEPC) signifies a crucial moment in Nigeria's democracy. It reinforces the will of the Nigerian people and highlights the credibility and fairness of the electoral process. The support and unity of all political actors are vital in fostering national development and achieving sustainable progress.
