Lagos-based Stallion NMN, the official Nissan representative in Nigeria, proudly concluded its hosting of the Nigeria leg of the International Cricket Council (ICC)'s World Cup trophy tour in partnership with the Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF). The event, which aimed to promote cricket and highlight Nissan's dedication to supporting sporting excellence, garnered significant attention from cricket enthusiasts and sports aficionados alike throughout the country.

The tour kicked off at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, where the World Cup trophy was exhibited to the public. Notable dignitaries in attendance included John Eno, the Minister of Sports Development, and Sen. Uyi Akpata, President of NCF. The presence of ICC officials and diplomats from Pakistan and India added prestige to the event.

The following day, cricket enthusiasts in Lagos had the exciting opportunity to see the iconic trophy up close at the TBS Cricket Ground. Thousands of fans gathered to catch a glimpse of the prestigious cup, many of them experiencing this exhilarating moment for the first time in their lives.

The tour's grand finale took place during a VIP cocktail function held at the Nissan Showroom on Victoria Island, Lagos. The event was attended by Mahesh Vaswani, Stallion Group Managing Director, as well as South African and Indian diplomats, officials from the ICC, and representatives from the NCF.

Amit Sharma, General Manager of Stallion NMN, expressed the company's longstanding commitment to sponsoring international sports, with a particular emphasis on cricket over the past eight years. Many cricket stars have become Nissan brand ambassadors, including renowned players like Naomi Osaka, Mitchell Johnson, Mel Jones, Dale Steyn, and Kagiso Rabada.

"Supporting sporting excellence across the globe, whether it's cricket, soccer, athletics, or basketball, allows us to showcase the excellence of the stars who excel in these sports while sharing the excitement and excellence of our vehicles with the world," Sharma stated.

Sharma highlighted Nissan's relentless pursuit of innovation and boundary-pushing over its 90-year history. He emphasized the company's investment in Formula E as a testament to its determination to benefit customers through technological advancements.

"Through introducing our innovations onto the track and testing them under the toughest conditions imaginable, we have developed groundbreaking technologies such as E-Force and E-Power, which are now integral features of our Qashqai and X-Trail models," Sharma added.

Nissan's commitment to Africa, particularly Nigeria, has been unwavering. As the first mover among the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), Nissan signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Nigerian government in 2013 to assist in establishing a sustainable automotive industry.

He added, "Nigeria has always been a key part of Nissan's history and our future strategy since it is one of the top two economies in Africa. Together with the ICC, we have shared the excitement of the game and showcased our vehicles to cricket fans worldwide. Our ultimate desire is to witness the day when the Nigerian cricket team competes for the ICC Cricket World Cup."
