NNPP Governorship Candidate Prof. Bem Angwe Withdraws Membership
NNPP's governorship candidate in Benue State, Prof. Bem Angwe, has withdrawn his membership from the party. In a letter addressed to the ward chairman, Angwe cited the current crisis and disregard for party rules as reasons for his decision. The NNPP has been embroiled in internal conflicts, leading to the suspension of key party officials.

ABUJA - The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) faces further turmoil as its governorship candidate in Benue State and former National Legal Adviser, Prof. Bem Angwe, has officially withdrawn his membership from the party. This follows the recent unfortunate crisis and confusion that has engulfed the party at all levels.

In a letter addressed to the ward chairman of Mbatyu NNPP in Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State, Prof. Angwe expressed his disapproval of the current state of affairs within the party. He stated that the brazen disregard for the party's rules and regulations, as outlined in its constitution, has made it untenable for him to continue being a member.

Prof. Angwe emphasized his desire to resume his academic activities and his dedication to the protection and enhancement of human rights in Nigeria. He firmly believes that a strong and better Nigeria can be built based on the principles of freedom, equality, and justice.

The decision to withdraw his membership was made in compliance with the resolution of the party's elders and stakeholders in his immediate community in Benue State. They advised him to distance himself from the party, considering the ongoing internal crisis.

Prof. Angwe expressed his gratitude to the party members and supporters who stood by him during his gubernatorial campaign and his time within the party. He acknowledged their unwavering support and assured them that he would keep them informed of his future endeavors.

The NNPP has been plagued by internal conflicts, leading to the suspension of the Board of Trustees (BoT) Chairman, Dr. Boniface Aneibonam, and the party's National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Agbo Major. Dr. Major criticized the suspensions, describing them as a "Nollywood show."

The withdrawal of Prof. Angwe's membership further highlights the deep divisions and instability within the NNPP. As the party's National Executive Committee (NEC) prepares to convene, the impact of these departures on the party's future remains uncertain.

Supporters and well-wishers of Prof. Angwe are urged to remain calm and patient while awaiting further updates from him. The decision to withdraw from the NNPP signals his commitment to his academic pursuits and his continued fight for human rights in Nigeria.

As these developments unfold, it becomes evident that the NNPP must address its internal conflicts and work towards enhancing cohesion and adherence to party principles. The party will need to regain the trust and confidence of its members and supporters to build a formidable political force.
