The Ondo State Acting Governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has brought attention to a worrisome trend of orchestrated falsehoods and negative write-ups aimed at creating disharmony and disaffection within the state government. In a statement issued in Akure, Aiyedatiwa warned about the activities of unknown individuals who are attempting to disrupt the governance of the state.
In an effort to maintain stability and dispel any concerns regarding the absence of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, Aiyedatiwa assured the people of Ondo State that the governor's absence has not created a gap in the government's operations. He urged citizens to ignore any write-ups that promote disunity and emphasized the government's commitment to its developmental policies.
Aiyedatiwa stated, "These tactics of faceless writers and agent provocateurs are intended to fan the embers of discord, tarnish the hard-earned reputations of individuals in government circles, and distract government attention. We assure you that we will not allow this to derail the focus and developmental policies of our administration."
The acting governor acknowledged the concerns expressed by some commentators based on constitutional provisions. He highlighted that the government is not oblivious to the dictates of the law. The statement seeks to address these concerns while dismissing the orchestrated falsehoods.
Aiyedatiwa also provided an update on Governor Akeredolu's health and his expected return. According to him, the governor is in high spirits and recuperating. The acting governor has maintained regular communication with the governor, who expressed his appreciation for the support he has been receiving.
"He (Akeredolu) is in high spirits, recuperating, and being expected back in office to continue with his laudable service to the state, as soon as he is certified medically fit by his doctors. I have been in touch with him, the latest being on Sunday, 9th July 2023, when he expressed appreciation to me and other State Executive Council Members for holding the fort while he is away," Aiyedatiwa stated.
This statement serves as a reassurance to the people of Ondo State that the government remains steadfast in its commitment to the welfare and development of the state despite the attempts to sow discord. Aiyedatiwa's call to ignore the falsehoods and remain united showcases the government's determination to maintain stability and focus on state development.
