The Ogun State Joint Account Allocation Committee (JAAC) has disbursed N5,233,379,834.30 among its 20 local government areas. The allocation, aimed at promoting transparency, accountability, and development, will be used to pay salaries, pensions, and undertake developmental projects in the state.

The Ogun State Joint Account Allocation Committee (JAAC) has allocated a total sum of N5,233,379,834.30 to the 20 local government areas in the state. The disbursement was made during the August 2023 edition of the JAAC meeting held at the Conference Hall, Oba's Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

The meeting, which aimed to foster accountability, transparency, and integrity, was attended by the chairmen of the local governments who were there to represent and seek the interest of the people. Dr. Rotimiolu Akinlesi, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, delivered a welcome address emphasizing the importance of carrying out more developmental projects in their respective council areas.

The Permanent Secretary and Accountant-General of the State Treasury, Mr. Babatunde Aregbesola, presented the breakdown of the allocation. Out of the total sum, N5,143,138,652.75 will be used to pay the first-line charges, which include primary school teachers' salaries, local government staff salaries, allowances of the Traditional Councils, and pensions, among others.

This significant allocation to the local government areas is a testament to the commitment of the Ogun State government towards grassroots development. Despite the challenges facing the nation, the chairmen of the local governments have been commended for their remarkable efforts in the last two years.
